Emsculpt Q & A

What is Emsculpt?

Emsculpt is an FDA-approved body sculpting treatment. The procedure destroys fat cells while building up muscle at the same time. With Emsculpt, it's possible to achieve a slimmer, sleeker appearance without undergoing invasive surgery.

In the past, fat-removal procedures often required invasive surgery and lengthy recovery time. These procedures also did nothing to improve muscle tone or improve your metabolism. Emsculpt provides both fat-removal and muscle-toning benefits, all without the risks of surgery.

How does Emsculpt work?

Emsculpt procedures use HIFEMĀ® (high-intensity focused electromagnetic) technology to generate muscle contractions in your abdomen or buttocks. These contractions work to strengthen and tone muscle tissue in your abdomen and buttocks.

HIFEM technology works your muscles in ways you can't achieve through exercise alone. At the same time, the procedure burns fat and boosts your metabolism to reshape your body.

What can I expect during an Emsculpt procedure?

Emsculpt procedures take place at the Lowcountry Plastic Surgery Center office and require no special preparation. Most patients receive 4-5 treatments, and treatments are typically spaced a few days apart. Each procedure takes about 30 minutes.

During the procedure, you can lie down and relax in a comfortable area. Emsculpt procedures are usually painless, though you may feel some muscle soreness during and after. Many patients report feeling like they've just had a vigorous workout.

There is little to no recovery time. Most patients can return to their normal activities right away. Because no surgery is involved, there are no incisions, scarring, or risk of infection.

When will I see results?

Emsculpt procedures take place over a two-week period. Many patients notice visible results by the time they receive their last procedure. Full results typically appear within four weeks of your final treatment. Results can show up even sooner, with some patients reporting a noticeable improvement in just a few days of their first procedure.

Is Emsculpt right for me?

Emsculpt provides an excellent option for individuals who are already at a healthy weight and looking to achieve a more toned appearance.

If you're seeking significant fat removal, Emsculpt may not provide the best results. Dr. Hensel can help you determine which body contouring procedure will best meet your needs.
